FUJI FEATHER PROFESSIONAL BMX:
1979 Fuji Feather (Professional)
The Fuji Feather Professional BMX was first listed in the Nichibei Fuji Cycle Company, Ltd. Fuji catalog in 1980, as the "Feather Professional". It was actually available from 1979 to 1982. The catalog specifications for each year of the Feather Professional are identical. There are two subtle differences through the years. First; in 1979 there are three brake cable ties, in 1980 there are two, then in 1981 and 82 Fuji added permanent metal cable loops to the top tube. Second, in the 1979 catalog the Professional appears to have skinny 20x 1.75 tires on front and rear, where as the later years appear to have a fat/skinny combo ( 20x 2.125 front- 20x 1.75 rear).
The specifications are also almost identical to the Feather BMX listed in the 1979 catalog with the difference being the frame is listed as 12.5 inches in 1980 and 12.25 inches in 1979. It could be that these two frames were identical and the frame specifications were estimated and perhaps corrected in the 1980 catalog. I say this because the Fuji Feather BMX frame is listed as 11.5" in the 1980 catalog. Another difference are the brakes; listed as Dia-Compe 1020's in 1979 and 890's in 1980. Both the 1979 "Feather" BMX and the 1980 Fuji Feather Professional appear to be "Professional" models.
