In 1983 Fuji changed the look of the MX-500 and began calling it the 500x. The 500x was available from 1983 to 1985. The specifications remained largely the same. Noticable differences are the frame decals, labeled frame bar pads and a change from round to square/rectangular reflectors. In 1984 and 1985 they changed from a vynil padded seat to a plastic seat and in the catalog pictures the tires almost appear to be a fat skinny 1.75x2.125 combo.
