NITTO handle bars (Feather
Professional) - It's unclear what the model number is for the
"NITTO BMX Alloy" bars listed on the specs for the 1979 Fuji Feather
Professional. In the other years they are listed as NITTO BMX B702
Alloy. However, on the "Feather" bikes they are listed as
NITTO B702 Steel. I find it highly unlikely the same model number
would be used for steel and alloy bars. So, I suspect they were
incorrectly marked on the specifications for the Feather
Professionals.
Below are images of the stock bars that came off a 1980
Feather Professional. There are
no brand or model stamps on them. They are quite unusual in shape,
they have a more rounded character throughout the overall
"U" part of the bars and have a relatively flat rake for
the handles. Though they look similar to the more common Race Inc
and NITTO B701's, they are in fact quite different when put side by
side.
Fujita
Seamless Leather BMX Saddle (Feather
Professional) - The Fujita saddle company is quite well known in
the road bike market but little known in the BMX area. The saddle is
nicely made with a plastic shelf covered in smooth, seamless
leather.
MKS
BM-1 and BM-5 Pedals (Feather
Professional) - The Feather Professionals came with MKS BM-1
pedals and the Feathers came with BM-5. The BM-1's are in appearance
and reality a better built pedal. The weight is essentially the
same, however the BM-1's have a more heavy duty construction to
them. BM-1's seem to be more scarce where as (currently) the BM-5s
can be found any given day on ebay etc.
Below the BM-1s are on the left and top of the pictures, the BM-5's
on the right.
OGK
MACH Grips Model# 68-15R - These were not very common among other BMX
brands, but were standard issue on the Feather Professionals and
Feathers. They feel pretty soft and don't seem like they would last
very long. Today you can find them in black much easier than the
yellow seen below; I'm yet to see them in any other color.
